L'eau, la terre, le bois, le métal occupant chacun 4 étages et le feu, se situant au niveau de l'espace restauration principal.
. La "Water Element room", imaginée par Pongthep Sagulku, se caractérise par son originalité avec notamment une baignoire offrant une vue directe sur Bangkok.
. La "Earth Element room", création de Vitoon Kunalungkarn est davatange un hommage à "Mère Nature", avec des murs remplis de peintures thaïlandaises primitives.
. La "Wood Element room", dessinée par Nithi Sthapitanonda, s'oppose à l'atmosphère agitée de la ville, privilégiant un décor propice à la sérénité.
. La "Metal Element room", signée Somchai Jongsaeng, ouvre les portes d'un univers résolument zen avec en guise de décor, une signature épurée: blanc et métal.

La french touch du Sofitel So Bangkok est signée du maître de la Haute Couture française Christian Lacroix, passé coordinateur et directeur artistique pour l'occasion. Il est également intervenu sur la création de l'emblème de l'hôtel "l'arbre de vie", a entièrement décoré le Club Lounge situé au dernier étage, avec 2 immenses fresques ainsi que les uniformes du personnel.

Hôtel PUBLIC Chicago by Ian Schrager Company - Chicago - USA

Le légendaire Ambassador East Hotel de Chicago datant de 1926 nous revient rénové et paré de ses plus beaux atouts, sous les traits de l'hôtel PUBLIC Chicago, sous la direction de Ian Schrager, célèbre pour ses nombreux hôtels design de luxe comme le Gramercy Park à New York, le Delano à Miami ou le Mondrian à Los Angeles. Il s'annonce d'ores et déjà comme le 1er d'une nouvelle lignée de boutiques-hôtels, le prochain sera à New-York, où sobriété, élégance, raffinement du design et qualité du service primeront à un prix abordable pour un hôtel de ce standing. Parallèlement, lancement de la chambre à 1$, oui vous ne rêvez pas, alors pourquoi s'en priver?




Un hall d'entrée spacieux avec un meuble de réception signé Christian Liaigre, 5 MacBook Pro, un esprit "self-service" avec une touche humoristique Ian Schrager avec l'horloge géante surnommée Benjamin Button, placée juste derrière le comptoir de la conciergerie, où l'aiguille des minutes se déplace vers l'arrière...
On passe aisément de la bibliothèque au bar à café le jour, au bar à cocktails le soir. Les murs sont recouverts de portraits humoristiques par le photographe hollandais Hendrik Kerstens, dans le style Vermeer, sauf qu'au lieu de porter des boucles d'oreilles en perles, les modèles portent des bigoudis en canettes de Coca-Cola... Des salons hip & cosy, chaleureux et conviviaux avec un feu de cheminée et des jeux de société à volonté.


Pump Room, bar et restaurant:

La Pump Room, autrefois lieu de rencontre favori des stars telles que Marilyn Monroe et Humphrey Bogart, est aujourd'hui dominé par "la constellation", un système aérien d'éclairage composé d'une centaine de globes en résine attachés à différents points.
La restauration reste simple, délicieuse, saine, un mélange de plats populaires à New York, concoctés de main de maître par Jean-Georges Vongerichten, à des prix raisonnables.


285 chambres dont 1/3 de suites, toutes simples, sans fioritures excessives. Les murs sont juste agrémentés d'un écran plat, d'une horloge grand format et d'une série de photos signées Jean-Baptiste Mondino (photos de vaches, clin d'oeil au marché de viande célèbre de Chicago). Pas de surconsommation dans le mini bar, room service livré dans un sac en papier, non sur un plateau d'argent, ici, on pousse plutôt les prix vers le bas. Wifi gratuit.
